    New method CPR

Many years ago - right before my first child was born - our neighbor who was a paramedic, trained me in CPR.  I have periodically had to review the process to keep it fresh, and todays news....(click here to see the story on MSN)....was indeed a relief.  The new recommendation is to leave out the mouth-to-mouth part altogether in certain situations.  When an adult suddenly collapses, stops breathing and is unresponsive - the odds are fairly high that the person has experienced cardiac arrest.  In this situation, there would be sufficient oxygen in their lungs and blood to support the brain and other vital organs, as long as their heart is kept beating - therefore not requiring the intermittant breathing as was part of prior CPR protocol.  This makes the process much simpler to remember and perform.  For some, it also by-passes the "ick" factor of swapping spit with, what many times, may be a total stranger.

*A child who collapses is more likely to primarily have breathing problems — and in that case, mouth-to-mouth breathing should be used. That also applies to adults who suffer lack of oxygen from a near-drowning, drug overdose, or carbon monoxide poisoning. In these cases, people need mouth-to-mouth to get air into their lungs and bloodstream.

Think OUTSIDE the box...not put your HEAD in it!

Apparently when you are 7 years old, it is fun to put a box on your head and run around.  The activity lost it's "funness" though, when he crashed headfirst into the corner of a brick wall.  In comes Tyler - the older brother - distraught about how his brother is outside "bleeding all over the place....AND I DID NOT DO IT!!!!!"  *smiles*  I was home alone and therefore, I was left to deal with the incident ALONE.  Sick  Blood and I do not get along.  I went out and assessed the situation....yes, blood was indeed plentiful - thankfully my little crash dummy is brave.  We got him in the house and cleaned him up and found the wound - and that did it for me.  I told him to lay down....and I laid down beside him.  LOL  After Tyler got us some water and we applied an ice-pack, it was off to Urgent Care for 5 stitches.  *whew*  Boys......Wink

    Another highway sniper

From October 2003 to February 2004, Charles McCoy terrorized  us all here in Columbus with his sniper-style shootings that left one woman dead before he was caught.  Now in Virginia, they are experiencing the same.  Early this morning, there were 4 seperate shootings on a 11 mile stretch of Interstate 64.  I certainly hope the person or persons responsible are found before there is loss of life.

    That did it for me.

I just didn't trust her - probably due to her husband, which wasn't fair of me - but it was just a gut feeling.

I know politics are B-O-R-I-N-G.....but we should be paying attention.  This next election just feels important to me because of what a dire state we find our country and the world in today.  I feel like we ....as in mankind..... mucked things up and we DO have the ability to make things better.  I think we should start with someone who shares our values.

Apparently Hillary's 1996 visit to Bosnia was a little less perilous than she earlier described.  (Click HERE for MSN story link.)
She now admits she "mis-spoke".  Mis-spoke?  Are you kidding me?  This wasn't even an embellishment....this was a  LIE.  I no longer have any waverings in my opionion  of her.  I don't trust her to lead this country.  She may be more "qualified" in the eyes of some, but I say to do what??  Run this country as so many have before her?  I want something new and different.  Let's try out something where this country is led with some sort of  a conscience.

She can blame the people who fed her the words to say - but SHE SAID THEM.

    Obama minister muck

Obama's minister apparently made some pretty offensive comments during his sermons in his recent past and this does not bode well  for Obama.  It is too bad.  I know these are not Obama's beliefs, and even though he has publicly declared that he disagrees with his minister's views, he values him as his spritual guide.  I don't know if that's distancing himself enough for those out there that are strong in their spiritual beliefs.  I wouldn't want my spiritual leader to have those views and I definately wouldn't want them preaching about them on Sunday morning to a bunch of young moldable minds.  That does nothing more than continue this rift between the races.  I think the ministers, prechers, priests and what-have-you out there should preach positive things on Sunday morning - lead the sheep not astray or something like that.....right?
I get what he said though, in his MSN article about not being able to denounce the "man", just as he wouldn't be able to denounce his white grandmother who herself had made disparaging ethnic comments in her lifetime.  Sometimes we find certain people in our lives, who we have come to love, that we discover have faults or who disappoint us.  That doesn't usually stop us from loving them - even when it might be the better thing for us.  Love's quirky that way.  Smile

In the words of my favoite Painter/Poet.....Come on Spring!

I'm ready to get outside and this soggy, cool weather sucks.  I suppose Spring still does bring those "April Showers", but it should also warm things up a bit, and I'm more than ready for that!  I walked the line of depression all winter....perhaps crossed over a couple times, but I'm fairly certain I've come away the victor.  I still have some medical things going on and that has definately slowed me down, but I feel I'm on my way to finding out what's going on.  We've had some more issues with my oldest - but I think sometimes you have to go through some really bad stuff before you find the way with kids like him.  Thanks to our incredible Pediatrician though, we are going to see a new group of doctors at Children's Hospital tomorrow.  Something just tells me that if anybody can help us, it's them.  (Tom's sister and sister-in-law are both nurses there and that is comforting as well.)  Bella is doing great btw - in fact, she may be ready for "walkies" before I am!  Smile

My life is making me sick

STRESS and unhappiness is the root of many a person's illness and even though I'm not a betting person....I'd bet on this.

    The Blizzard of 2008 ?

I do love the snow - especially when it falls in abundance.  Mother Nature chose the end of the winter season to bring Central Ohio the biggest snow storm of the season - and tonight they're suggesting we might be under blizzard conditions as of tomorrow.  yay!  We haven't had one in 15 years - 1993 - and I think we're due.

I did love that spring day we got several days ago, but as long as you know Spring is on it's way.....LET IT SNOW!!!!!  lol

    Windows Live Writer complaint

    The Target: Windows Live Writer
    The Setting:  Spaces and blogging
My Bitch:  I lost an entry today while using WLW. Baring teeth
My observation(s):  If you pull up an old entry - which I did because I wanted to use the same font - color and size and set-up - and you change the verbage and hit post -  it will not post a NEW one....it will replace the old one.
The question:  Couldn't WLW ask if you want to save the old post or just post a new one???  OOOOH - that just ticked me off!  Angry

    Obama bummer

Well, that was surprising to me.  I really thought Obama would pull Ohio.  Hillary definately is a strong opponent.  She claims to want to change government too, I just can't get past BILL I guess!  LOL  Was never a big fan of his.
